This opteron-based architecture is perfect for cost-conscious small and medium-sized companies, corporate data centres, and large clustered High-Performance Computing (HPC) settings. The PC3200 Double Data Rate (DDR1) SDRAM used in the HP ProLiant DL145 servers operates at 400MHz and has Advanced ECC capabilities. The most recent SDRAM technology is DDR1. Each DIMM transmits SDRAM data on the rising edge of each clock cycle. Transactions are carried out by the memory chip on DDR DIMMs on both the rising and falling edges of the clock cycle, thus doubling the memory bus clock rate yields. The AMD 8132 series chipset, which supports PCI-X, and the NVIDIA CK8-04, which helps PCI-Express, are both used by the ProLiant DL145. Up to two Opteron CPUs, 16GB of PC3200 memory, 133MHz PCI-X bandwidth, and x16 PCI-Express capability are supported by the combination of these chipset implementations. Instead of Rev. CG processors, the AMD Opteron processors used in the DL145 G2 are Rev. E processors. The Rev. E CPUs in the G2 models provide better performance through an increase in the frequency of the HyperTransport technology. The Rev. E process uses HyperTransport technology at a 1GHz frequency.
