Based on the zx6000 workstation, the rx2600 is a rack-mountable HP Itanium workstation. Both may be installed in 2U 19" racks and have comparable system designs. The rx2600 lacks the workstation-oriented zx6000's AGP port but supports up to two Itanium 2 processors and is designed for PCI-X devices. The systems are based on HP's zx1 chipset, which has two main parts: the IOAs (I/O adapters) and the MIO (memory and I/O controller). Memory and cache controllers are both present in the zx1 MIO.
